Which Vancouver Charities Accept Used Mattress Donations?

In Vancouver, several charitable organizations accept used mattresses for donation, provided they meet specific cleanliness and hygiene standards. Key charities include:

  • The Salvation Army: This organization accepts gently used mattresses and may offer free large-item pickup services in certain areas of Vancouver.
  • Habitat for Humanity ReStore: They welcome mattresses in very good condition. Pickup services may be available for a fee, though availability varies by location.
  • Furniture Bank of Greater Vancouver: This local furniture bank distributes reusable items to families in need. Please note that they typically require donors to drop off items directly at their location and may have strict requirements regarding the absence of pet hair.

To be accepted for donation, mattresses must generally be free of stains, tears, and pests (such as bed bugs), and they must have the original fire-retardant legal tag intact. It is highly recommended to contact these organizations directly before visiting to confirm their current intake policies and scheduling availability.
